Listen to the KWUR live stream!

If there is one thing you do today… listen to “5,” Federico Aubele’s new album out Oct. 22 through 13 Records- Ingrooves/Fanta. As much as I love the dubby, hazy sound from ESL, Federico’s former label, this album moves away from monotony and in a more melodic direction while retaining the atmospheric hypnosis that has always characterized Aubele. It’s remarkable how well the album holds together given the diversity of instruments and genres Aubele invokes. This will definitely be making an appearance on KWUR in the near future

Fatty Boom Boom sounds like it was recorded by Studio One in the 60s, but this solid Jamaican ska revival was recorded in 2006 by Boston-based Westbound Train. It’s deliciously fat and bouncy. Give this a spin while sipping a rum and coke and lounging in a hammock. Extra points if you’re rocking a pork pie fedora

Get ready for another episode of you me and OG with this solid 1974 reggae masterpiece from Lloyd Parks

El Michaels Affair

Not sure how I came across these guys but wow! Super smooth, almost hypnotic - but listen to their cover of Shimmy Shimmy Ya, with Wu Tang Clan - it’s seriously futuristic

Anyone out there have a punk band and need lyrics for your next song? Hard to do better than “Your kiss of affection! The germ of infection!”
